Brimfield Antiques Show this week

If you have a love for antiques like I do you might want to take a ride to Brimfield Massachusetts and visit the massive antique show going on there. With thousands of dealers, some estimates as high as 5,000 you will likely find what you are looking for and will certainly find something you like. The weather for the week is going to be a wet one as a result of the remnants of tropical storm Lee, be sure to dress for rain. Here is some more information about the Brimfield Antique Shows

Been a little busy catching up with listing stuff on Etsy. Unfortunately I am not going to Brimfield Antique show this week, it would have been a good time. Here are a couple examples of some of the stuff I listed in the last week.

These eyeglass frames are just too cool and I have hundred of different styles and brands I will be listing in the coming weeks.

Here are a other examples such as these RayBan frames and These Christian Dior frames.

Are you looking for some industrial seating, check out this stool?

How about some mid century modern living room furniture?

Thanks for stopping buy, have a great Labor Day!

Met the Antique Road Shows Gary Sohmers today.

As i was making my rounds today i stumbled onto someone most people who have watched the antiques road show would recognize. His name is Gary Sohmers. To give you a visual, he is the appraiser of all things pop art, just picture the guy that wears the loud shirts with stark white hair and a pony tail. I recognized him immediately but waited to approach him as he was engaged in conversation with a customer. After speaking with a neighboring dealer i approached him and went into my pitch. He was very engaging and offered quite a bit of great information on how to promote my site. He mentioned a webcast radio show that he was doing as well as another site related to autographs that he was working on.
As it turned out he was the last dealer i spoke to for the day but i have been encouraged by the very positive feedback i have been receiving. I still have a tremendous amount of work ahead of me.

August 19th at Madison-Bouckville Antique Festival

Well, it was day 3 at the Madison-Bouckville Antique festival for me and after 3 days I may have covered 1/2 the dealers present, if that. Check out this really cool orthodontist advertising piece.

Having a great time in the Central New York Sun

After about 5 hours I headed back to my friends booth to grab a bite to eat. Apparently, while I was gone the sun had gotten to them just a touch because this is what I found upon my return.
I was told that the hat was for hunters safety. Don't ya just love how the earrings just make his eyes pop! Always a great time at the antiques shows.

Making the rounds meeting more antique dealers with great merchandise!

I continued to pound the pavement today in the small fields on the North side of Route 20. It was another beautiful day, very warm and very sunny. After helping my friends set up in their booth behind the Hinman Hotel i headed back to where i left off the day before, around the bloomin' onion booth. I came across another dealer that specialized in art glass and he had some beautiful pieces.

Another dealer just a short distance away had this amazing Buffalo Pottery Deldare tankard for sale. I have seen quite a bit of Deldare over the years but never a tankard, just a beautiful piece.

Back out near the road was this dealer with some great pieces of 19th century blue decorated stoneware.

Madison-Bouckville Antique Festival 9:00 am Thursday 8/18./2011

This is what Bouckville during the antique fest looks like at 9AM.

This is the day the big field opened up for the first time under new management. I did not get to the big field today but will be going there tomorrow to hand out cards and spread the word about marketsquare.us. So far the feedback has been very positive and very encouraging.

Art glass galore

One thing I noticed in this relatively small field is the quantity of really good quality art glass. There were several dealers that specialized in art glass and wow, were there some beautiful pieces.

One gentleman specialized in high end, mostly Czechoslovakian art glass such as Kralik, Loetz as well as Steuben among others. Another gentleman focused on older glass, mostly Victorian pieces. Both dealers had some beautiful pieces and were very accommodating in allowing me to photograph some of their pieces. I would like to thank all those dealers i spoke with for allowing me to photograph their wares.

The photo for the sword

Not sure why the photo for the sword never loaded so here it is again.

After about 30 minutes I came across a large tent filled with some really great antiques. One piece that caught my eye was this really cool old wagon.

This was not your run of the mill early 1900's wagon. Not only could you pull it like any other wagon but you could remove the handle and insert it in the back and you could use it as a scooter. How do you steer you ask? Well you insert the handle in a slot in the back, that slot is connected to a chain, you just turn the handle and the front wheels turn. How cool is that?

Madison-Bouckville Antique Festival Day 1

Wednesday, August 17 2011 Well, spent the day at the Madison-Bouckville Antique Festival in Madison NY today. It was a beautiful day to go antiquing, sunny, warm, no rain and lots of merchandise to look at. I started the day in the field behind the Hinman Hotel helping my friends get their booth set up for the day. It was about 9AM before i headed out with my camera. My goal for the day was to promote my website marketsquare.us. The field behind the Hinman hotel was good a place to start as any. Most dealers i spoke to were quite receptive to my site though about 20% did not use the internet or even own a computer. This photo is of the field from the road
During my walk i saw a lot of beautiful things, some fairly common a d some quite rare and just about everything in between. This particular dealer had some very nice items including meerschaum pipes
A very nice short sword that appeared to me to be Persian in origin and
a very cool signal canon is excellent condition.
